We are located in right outside of Sacramento, California. We offer transportation services nationwide.
A show/alter kitten exemplifies the highest standards of the Ragdoll breed, as defined by both the Cat Fancier Association (CFA) and The International Cat Association (TICA) guidelines. These kittens possess all the desirable traits and characteristics of the breed, making them perfect candidates for show competitions.
However, it's important to note that show/alter kittens are spayed or neutered and are not intended for breeding purposes.
When we designate a kitten as "show/alter", it represents our commitment to producing the highest quality, most charismatic & intelligent companions with the potential to excel in show rings without any disqualifying features. These kittens are eligible to participate in the "alter category" at various shows. It's important to understand that while show/alter kittens have the potential for success, their actual performance cannot be guaranteed. Some cats may not enjoy the show environment or the associated travel, as individual preferences vary greatly.
Additionally, certain kittens may thrive better in specific associations or be favored by particular judges. Rest assured, a show quality kitten is considered to be near perfection in all other aspects. We take great pride in breeding and nurturing kittens that embody the ideal traits of the Ragdoll breed.
Our breeding program is dedicated to producing exceptional Ragdoll kittens that possess all the qualities of a show-worthy Ragdoll, as defined by both the Cat Fancier Association (CFA) and The International Cat Association (TICA) guidelines.
A breeding quality Ragdoll kitten not only meets the standards of a show quality cat, but also exhibits extraordinary traits that will enhance and advance the lineage of the breed. These special kittens are exclusively available to qualified breeding programs that share our commitment to treating cats with utmost respect and strive to improve the breed.
When selecting a breeding quality kitten, we prioritize certain characteristics that contribute to the production of high-quality offspring. Typically, these kittens are the largest, most beautiful, and outgoing members of their litter. These traits ensure that the kittens we provide are of superior breeding quality.
Additionally, our breeding quality kittens are free from any known diseases, ailments, or genetic faults, including any ancestral ties to PG (Patricia Gucci) or other undesirable traits that could hinder the advancement of the Ragdoll breed. It's important to note that although a kitten may be sold as breeding quality, its suitability for breeding may change over time due to temperament or physical development.
We are committed to providing the best of the best, and sometimes this evaluation can shift. However, rest assured that our breeding quality kittens are akin to our show/alter kittens, with the exception that they are not spayed or neutered before going to their new homes.
If you are genuinely interested in acquiring a breeding quality kitten, please understand that we have a rigorous screening process in place. Not everyone will be approved, as we want to ensure that our kittens go to individuals who are dedicated to ethically improving the Ragdoll breed. If you are serious about this option, we are more than happy to discuss it further with you.
We understand the importance of ensuring a safe and comfortable journey for our precious Ragdoll kittens as they make their way to their new homes. That's why we offer convenient and reliable transportation services to assist in the delivery process.
We have established a strong partnership with a trusted and experienced flight nanny who has a track record and specializes in successfully transporting & delivering our purr-fect little bundles of joy to their furr-ever homes.
This dedicated professional has extensive knowledge and expertise in handling and caring for kittens during air travel. Our flight nanny is committed to providing the highest level of care and attention to ensure a stress-free journey for your new furry companion.
Our flight nanny service fee typically ranges from $500 to $700, depending on the distance of the transportation. This fee covers the costs associated with air travel, including ticket expenses, pet handling, and ensuring the comfort and well-being of the kitten throughout the journey. We have carefully selected this flight nanny for their exceptional reputation and commitment to the safety and welfare of our kittens.
We firmly believe that flying is a much more comfortable and efficient method of transportation for our kittens compared to long car rides. Air travel significantly reduces travel time and minimizes stress for our feline friends. It allows them to arrive at their new homes in a quicker and more relaxed manner, ensuring a smoother transition into their new environment.
However, we also understand that certain circumstances may call for alternative transportation arrangements. Depending on the distance and our availability, we will be more than happy to personally hand deliver your furr-ever companion to you. In such cases, we only require reimbursement for transportation expenses, ensuring a cost-effective and convenient option for both parties involved.
Rest assured, that the well-being and safety of our kittens are our utmost priority throughout the entire transportation process. We take every precaution necessary to guarantee their comfort and security, providing you with peace of mind as you eagerly anticipate welcoming your new Ragdoll kitten into your home.
If you have any specific inquiries regarding our transportation services or wish to discuss alternative arrangements, please do not hesitate to contact us. We're here to make the adoption process as smooth and enjoyable as possible for both you and your future feline friend.
At Rags&Fluff, we are dedicated to ensuring the health and well-being of our Ragdoll cats and the kittens they produce. We prioritize responsible breeding practices and take several measures to maintain the highest standards of feline genetics and overall health.
Genetic testing is a fundamental aspect of our breeding program. All of our cats undergo thorough genetic testing using reputable platforms such as Wisdom Panel and Base Paws.
These tests encompass a comprehensive range of genetic conditions, including but not limited to Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM), Polycystic Kidney Disease Type 1 (PKD1), and Myotonia Spasticity Paralysis Virus 1 (MSPV1). By utilizing these testing methods, we can identify potential genetic concerns and make informed breeding decisions.
To provide transparency and enable prospective owners to make informed choices, we have included links to the testing results for each parent on our Kings & Queens page. This allows you to view the genetic health information of our cats, giving you confidence in the health of the kittens they produce.
Additionally, we prioritize the overall well-being of our cats by ensuring they are tested for Feline Leukemia Virus (FELV) and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). These tests help us identify any potential infections that could affect the health of our cats or their offspring.
Furthermore, all of our breeding cats undergo Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) screening to detect any underlying health conditions before they are used for breeding.
At Rags&Fluff, we believe in going above and beyond to provide families with healthy kittens. As a testament to our commitment to their well-being, we offer an extensive 3-year health guarantee. This guarantee provides peace of mind to our clients, assuring them that we stand by the health and quality of our kittens.
By combining genetic testing, comprehensive health screenings, and a robust health guarantee, we strive to provide families with healthy and genetically sound Ragdoll kittens. We are proud of our efforts to maintain the highest standards of breeding ethics and ensure that our cats and their offspring lead happy, healthy lives.
We take pride in providing a comprehensive health warranty to ensure the well-being of our kittens and maintain the satisfaction of our valued customers. Before you bring your new kitten home, we provide a legal "Kitten Contract" that outlines the rights and responsibilities of both our cattery and the new owner.
Additionally, we encourage you to compare our contract with those of other breeders, as we believe ours offers one of the best health warranties available.
At Rags&Fluff, we prioritize the personality and health of our Ragdoll kittens above all else. Our breeding program has garnered numerous testimonials praising the wonderful personalities, beautiful coats, and captivating eye colors of our Ragdoll kittens. We strive for excellence, and to that end, each purebred Ragdoll kitten from Rags&Fluff comes with an unprecedented 3-year genetic health guarantee.
Our commitment to your satisfaction is further reinforced by DNA testing all of our Ragdolls and standing behind our extended health warranty with utmost confidence.
Let's delve into what our health warranty entails. Firstly, it's important to note that the term "health guarantee" can be misleading, as nobody can guarantee that living beings will never fall ill. Thus, we prefer to refer to it as a health warranty. We understand the significance of finding a beautiful pedigree Ragdoll cat and the investments of time, care, money, and love you will make in your new companion. Therefore, we offer you a reasonable degree of protection.
Our health warranty comprises two parts, designed to safeguard your interests:
Part 1: Ensures that you do not receive a sick kitten. It requires you to have your kitten examined by a licensed veterinarian within 7 business days of leaving our care. If your veterinarian determines that the kitten is ill and unfit for sale, you may return the kitten, and we will replace it with one of similar quality. Please note that refunds are not provided, and we require an original written statement from your veterinarian. Additionally, veterinary fees and kitten shipping fees are non-refundable.
Part 2: Provides long-term protection against genetic defects and congenital diseases. If your kitten or cat is diagnosed with a serious genetic defect or congenital disease before reaching 3 years of age, we will provide you with a replacement kitten. Examples of qualifying conditions include life-threatening heart conditions and degenerative nerve disorders, which significantly impact longevity or quality of life. However, conditions such as innocent heart murmurs, allergies, or treatable parasites that do not compromise the overall health and happiness of an otherwise healthy cat would not qualify for a replacement. While we generally accept a veterinarian's opinion regarding serious defects, we may request a second opinion for further evaluation.
At Rags&Fluff Cattery, we strive to ensure that you have a positive experience with your new Ragdoll kitten. Our health warranty serves as a testament to our commitment to providing healthy and genetically sound companions. We stand by our guarantee and are dedicated to your satisfaction.
We prioritize the well-being and health of our beloved feline companions, and one essential aspect of our program is the practice of early spay/neuter.
Here are the main reasons why early spay/neuter is safe, important, and the reasons behind our commitment to this practice.
By prioritizing early spay/neuter, we aim to create a positive impact on the lives of our kittens, their future families, and the feline community as a whole.
Ragdolls have a luxurious and semi-longhaired coat that is soft to the touch. Their fur is known for its silky texture, which adds to their overall beauty. However, it's essential to note that Ragdolls do shed. Contrary to some misconceptions, they are not considered hypoallergenic.
Although Ragdolls are not hypoallergenic, they are generally more suitable for individuals with mild allergies compared to other cat breeds. Ragdolls are known to be moderate shedders, meaning they do shed a certain amount of hair throughout the year. However, their shedding is typically not excessive, and it does not require extensive grooming or brushing.
Understanding that allergies can vary from person to person, we offer a unique "potential owner" option called the T-Shirt test. This option allows you to assess your possible allergic reactions to our Ragdolls before making a final decision. For a small fee of $25, we provide you with a T-Shirt that has been placed in close contact with several of our adult cats. The T-Shirt is then mailed to you, and you can wear it to observe your reaction firsthand.
The T-Shirt test has proven to be highly beneficial for families who were uncertain about adopting a Ragdoll due to potential allergies. It provides an opportunity to experience the presence of Ragdoll cat dander and assess any allergic responses before committing to adoption.
At our breeding program, we prioritize transparency and the well-being of both our cats and adopters. We aim to ensure that every family can make an informed decision when considering a Ragdoll as a new addition to their home.
If you have any further questions or would like to request a T-Shirt for an allergy test, please feel free to contact us. We're here to assist you throughout the adoption process.
Ensuring the well-being of our program and the health of our cats and kittens is of utmost importance to us. Therefore, we have made the decision not to allow in-person visitors to our facility. We understand that this may come as a disappointment to some, but we believe it is a necessary measure to maintain the safety and security of our breeding program.
Here are a few reasons why we have implemented this policy:
By implementing these measures, we prioritize the safety, health, and well-being of our cats and kittens, while still providing potential adopters with ample information and opportunities for engagement. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping us maintain a secure and nurturing environment for our beloved Ragdolls.
If you have any questions or would like to schedule a video call, please feel free to reach out to us.
At Rags&Fluff, we take great care in raising our Ragdoll kittens to ensure they are well-acclimated and prepared for their new homes. We provide a nurturing environment that focuses on their physical and emotional development.
Here's an outline of how we raise our kittens week by week:
Week 1: Newborn Stage
During the first week of their lives, our Ragdoll kittens are with their mother, receiving vital care and nourishment. They remain in a warm and cozy nesting area, where they can bond with their littermates and their mother. We closely monitor their health and ensure they are nursing well.
Week 2-3: Eyes Open and Motor Skills Development
Around the second to third week, the kittens' eyes begin to open, revealing their beautiful blue eyes. At this stage, we continue to provide a comfortable and clean environment for them. They start to explore their surroundings and develop their motor skills, such as crawling and trying to walk. Gentle handling begins to introduce them to human touch.
Week 4-5: Socialization and Play
As the kittens grow, they become more active and curious. We provide a safe and stimulating environment where they can play, climb, and interact with age-appropriate toys. They have opportunities for gentle socialization with our experienced caregivers, which helps them develop trust and confidence with humans.
Week 6-7: Introduction to Solid Food
Around the sixth to seventh week, we gradually introduce solid food into their diet. We carefully select high-quality, nutritious kitten food to support their growth and development. As they learn to eat solid food, we continue to monitor their progress, ensuring they are transitioning well.
Week 8-9: Litter Training and Continued Socialization
At this stage, we introduce litter boxes to the kittens, helping them learn proper toileting habits. We provide clean litter boxes, and as they start using them, we encourage good litter box etiquette. Socialization efforts intensify, with more frequent interaction with our caregivers and exposure to various household sounds and experiences.
Week 10-12: Vaccinations and Veterinary Check-ups
Around the tenth to twelfth week, our kittens receive their initial vaccinations and undergo a comprehensive veterinary check-up. This ensures they are in good health and free from any underlying conditions. We keep meticulous records of their health history, which we provide to new owners.
Week 12-14: Ready for Adoption
By the twelfth to fourteenth week, our Ragdoll kittens are spayed/neutered and ready to go to their new homes. They have been well-socialized, litter trained, and received the necessary vaccinations. We carefully screen potential adopters to ensure a loving and suitable environment for our kittens.
Throughout the entire process, we maintain open lines of communication with new owners, providing guidance and support during the transition period. We are committed to the well-being of our kittens and strive to produce happy, healthy Ragdolls who will bring joy to their new families.
Please note that the exact timing and milestones may vary slightly depending on the individual development of each kitten. We adapt our approach to meet their specific needs, ensuring they receive the best possible care and attention as they grow.
